Elbow function following tension band fixation of displaced fractures of the olecranon

Holdsworth BJ. Mossad MM. x Injury; British Journal of Accident Surgery. [JC:gon] 16(3):182-7, 1984 Nov. x Fifty-two patients were reviewed following displaced fractures of the x olecranon fixed by the tension band technique. Symptoms, range of movement x and strength in flexion and extension were assessed, together with the x accuracy of reduction. Eighty-five per cent of patients regained very good x function. The results confirm that tension band fixation can yield x excellent functional results whatever the degree and severity of fracture x of the olecranon. The wires must be totally buried to allow full excursion x of the triceps tendon. x
