Avascular necrosis complicating fracture of the distal tibial epiphysis
AU: Kennedy-JP; Weiner-DS SO: J-Pediatr-Orthop. 1991 Mar-Apr; 11(2): 234-7 AB: We have described a patient with a very rare case of distal tibial epiphyseal AVN after a severe fracture. This patient subsequently had complete asymptomatic revascularization and closure of the epiphyseal plate without deformity. Practitioners should be aware, however, that in younger persons a similar lesion can lead to premature closure of the plate and resultant deformity.
